A safe electrical system is the foundation every home is built on – and when electrical issues arise or new capacity is needed, proper installation by a certified technician is non-negotiable. At Grand Renovation, we are an electrical company and construction company in one: our certified electricians handle everything from minor repairs and fault finding to full rewiring, EV charging, and smart home automation, all as part of a coordinated team. Whether you have specific electrical needs for a renovation project or are looking for standalone electrical solutions, you get one point of contact, one fixed quote, and zero subcontractors.
Our technicians coordinate daily with plumbers, plasterers, and joiners – so your electrical wiring is sequenced correctly within the build, not added as an afterthought. This is the difference between high-quality craftsmanship and a job that requires walls to be reopened.
Understanding the approximate cost of electrical work before requesting a quote helps you plan realistically. The price list below is based on typical residential projects we complete across the Netherlands. Final pricing depends on property age, scope, and access conditions.
All prices include VAT and are indicative. A precise, itemised quote is provided after a free on-site consultation.

For complete renovation cost breakdowns:
Older Dutch homes – particularly those built before 1980 – often have electrical wiring that no longer meets current safety standards. Signs of unsafe wiring include ceramic fuses, single-core aluminium conductors, absence of earth conductors, or circuits that trip under normal load. Wiring in wooden houses and properties with attic spaces requires particular care to adhere to non-combustible materials requirements. We carry out complete rewiring with minimal disruption: cables are routed through existing voids where possible, and any chasing is made good by our plasterers in the same project.
Replacing an outdated zekeringkast with a modern circuit breaker panel is one of the most impactful and safe and efficient electrical improvements in a Dutch home. We install modern boards with RCD protection, a main switch, and clear labelling – ensuring local safety standards are met and that the system can support your household’s electrical needs without risk of leakage or cause a fire hazard from overloaded circuits.
From recessed LED downlights in a kitchen to pendant lighting in a living area – we handle full lighting design and installation, advising on circuit planning for dimmers, scene control, and energy-efficient LED systems. Every circuit is sized correctly, so you can add fittings later without overloading.
Additional outlet points, switch relocations, and minor repairs are handled quickly and neatly. We add points exactly where needed – without surface trunking where walls allow concealment. USB-A and USB-C integrated outlets available on request. We also carry out electrical fault finding and repair for issues such as dead circuits, persistent tripping, and flickering lights.
The Netherlands leads Europe in EV adoption, and demand for home charging continues to grow. We install Type 2 wall-mounted charging stations (11kW or 22kW) on a dedicated circuit, with load balancing where required. All installations are reported to the network operator and meet EVSE standards. We also advise on solar panels integration where clients want to combine EV charging with renewable generation.
Automation systems perform best when the infrastructure is built in during construction, not retrofitted with wireless adapters. We wire for KNX, Loxone, Philips Hue, and other major platforms – installing the cabling, relay modules, and back boxes that allow clean integration. This includes insulation-compatible routing and proper installation in line with Dutch building standards.
An induction or electric hob requires a Perilex (5-pin, 400V) connection – a standard domestic socket is not sufficient and presents a fire hazard if incorrectly connected. We install Perilex outlets on a dedicated cooking circuit as a standard part of any kitchen project we handle.
We carry out large-scale electrical installation for commercial projects: offices, retail fit-outs, and new construction across the Netherlands. This includes three-phase connections, data cabling, emergency lighting, and NEN 3140 periodic inspection. All commercial work adheres to Dutch building and fire safety codes.
One of the most common cost overruns in Dutch home projects occurs when a separate electrician arrives after plastering – walls need to be reopened, replastered, and repainted, adding both cost and delay. Faulty sequencing also causes electrical problems that only become apparent after decoration is complete.
At Grand Renovation, our technicians are on-site from the start. First fix – electrical wiring, back boxes, conduit – happens before walls are closed. Second fix – outlets, switches, fittings – happens after decoration. This is coordinated by your project manager, not left to chance.
Every set of electrical solutions we deliver as part of a project is included in your single itemised quote. No separate invoices, no unexpected additions, and no margin stacked on margin between a general contractor and a subcontracted electrical company.
Our technicians are based near Randstad, which means fast response times and no travel surcharges for most projects across the country.

We offer a full range of residential and commercial electrical services: full house rewiring, fuse box and panel replacement, outlet and switch installation, lighting design and installation, EV charging stations, smart home automation wiring, Perilex socket installation, fault finding and minor repairs, and large-scale commercial projects. All work is carried out to NEN 1010 standards by in-house certified technicians.
Yes. All work complies with NEN 1010, the Dutch standard for low-voltage electrical installations. We adhere to local safety requirements, Dutch building codes, and fire safety regulations. A written compliance certificate is issued on completion of qualifying projects.
Yes. We carry out residential electrical work for homeowners, landlords, and expats, and commercial projects for offices, retail properties, and new construction. For large-scale commercial work, we can provide a dedicated project team and NEN 3140 periodic inspection on completion.
If you experience a short circuit, power failure, or persistent circuit tripping, first check your distribution board for a tripped MCB or RCD and attempt to reset it. If electrical problems persist, do not attempt to investigate live wiring yourself – contact a certified technician. Unresolved electrical issues such as leakage current or burning smell can cause a fire and should be treated as urgent. Contact us directly and we will advise on response time.
For residential properties, a periodic electrical inspection is recommended every 10 years for owner-occupied homes and every 5 years for rental properties. For commercial projects, NEN 3140 requires periodic inspection at intervals defined by a risk assessment – typically every 1–5 years. We carry out periodic inspections and advise on any remedial work required.
Most Dutch electricians charge between €65 and €95 per hour excluding VAT for standard residential work. Emergency call-out rates are typically €100–€150 per hour. At Grand Renovation, we quote by fixed job scope rather than open-ended hourly rate – so the approximate cost is clear before any work begins.
Most standard work – replacing a fuse box, adding outlet points, rewiring a room – does not require a separate permit. If the electrical work is part of a structural renovation requiring an omgevingsvergunning, the electrical scope is covered under that permit. New grid connections or major capacity upgrades require a request to your network operator (Liander, Stedin, or Enexis). We advise on this during the free consultation.
Yes, but apartment installations require VvE (homeowners’ association) approval for changes to the building’s electrical infrastructure. In many Dutch apartment buildings the main distribution board is shared, and adding an EV circuit requires coordination with the building manager and potentially the network operator. We handle this process and advise on load management where the main connection is limited.
Yes – a full electrical renovation, replacing all wiring, outlets, and the distribution board, is one of the most common projects we carry out in older Dutch homes. This is typically done as part of a broader renovation project, which allows us to sequence electrical work correctly alongside plastering, tiling, and other trades. Contact us for a free consultation and approximate cost estimate.
